, due to its heavy weight, you need to properly install it in place with mounting devices especially designed for the task. Particularly if you mount your plasma or flat screen on the wall, it needs a set of good quality installation mounts so the TV doesn't fall on the ground.

Before setting out to buy a set of mounts for your TV, make sure you read up on which types you can find, as each is developed for a TV model and type. Below you can find the most popular brackets that you will ever have to use.

First of all you have the flush mounting brackets, which are really the cheapest of the bunch. Of course they are also the easiest to install your TV with as they will be able to really hold your television in place. However they won't allow for any movement of your TV set at all. Imagine that you're hanging a painting on the wall to be motionless. This is how the TV will be on the wall as well.

The next is the tilting mount, which does allow some movement for your TV. The movement is usually vertical, as you can easily tilt the TV up to 20 degrees either up or down. Sadly this type does not allow for horizontal (left or right) movement, so it's quite limited in scope. However, when it comes to price, it's still a cheap one. The main problem with this installation type is that if your TV is at an angle from your seating, you won't be very comfortable in watching too much TV this way.

The most expensive of all, the swivel mounting devices, also called the full motion mounts, are full of extra features that explain the higher price. Also these mounts allow for full rotation and horizontal and vertical movement. As the TV is about 20" away from the wall, you can effectively rotate the TV and also you can work easier with the cables at the back of the television, something that is not so easily done with the previous mounts described above.
