Shih Tzu because of thick care needs to be properly groomed and cleaned. There are areas which are hidden by thick hair that really need to be well cleaned.

There are inborn diseases or congenital illnesses which can risk your Shih Tzu's health to a higher level. Intervertebral Disk Disease

Shih Tzu as young as 2 years old can have this type of disease. It is associated with a back problem wherein the spinal cord gets affected. Observe your Shih Tzu behavior and check if it has been experiencing any pain, muscle spasms and weakening in its limbs. These are common symptoms for an Intervertebral Disk Disease.

General Respiratory Problems and Stenotic Nares

Many Shih Tzu can acquire inborn diseases particularly in their respiratory. One of the most common inborn diseases is the General Respiratory Problem where your Shih Tzu can experience difficult time breathing. A brachycephalic breed of Shih Tzu is very susceptible to having this respiratory problem. You can easily identify whether your Shih Tzu is a brachycephalic breed or not by knowing and learning how Shih Tzu behavior acts when it comes to having brachycephalic syndrome.

Senotic is another type of respiratory problem where Shih Tzu is born with having too narrow nostrils. If not treated right away, this disease can destroy your Shih Tzu's respiratory. Check your Shih Tzu if they have Senotic by observing Shih Tzu behavior where they will show you that they are currently experiencing a hard time breathing. The only way to cure this disease is to bring your Shih Tzu to surgery.

Patellar Luxation

Shih Tzu having Patellar Luxation can be easily distinguished. Observe your dog during Shih Tzu dog training and notice if it is limping or acting like they are hurt. If they do, they have a greater possibility of having pantellar luxation where their legs can be deformed.

Renal Cortical Hypolasia

There is Shih Tzu which is born with having irregular shaped kidneys. And mostly, kidneys which are irregular in shape cannot perform adequately leading Shih Tzu to having Renal Cortical Hypoplasia. Shih Tzu urinating several times during Shih Tzu dog training is one of the symptoms that are associated with having this kidney disease. Other symptoms include vomiting and anemia.

Hypothyroidism

You can never take your Shih Tzu to Shih Tzu dog training if it is suffering from Hypothyroidism. This type of Shih Tzu health problem causes the glands in the thyroid to stop producing thyroid hormones which are essential for the dog's metabolism. Because of this, your Shih Tzu will start to lose muscles and get fat, get tired so easily and get more hair loss. If not treated right away, Hypothyroidism can lead to a heart disease.
