Maintaining Your Workout
First of all, exercise does not mean lifting weights and pumping iron every day
. If you can go to a gym and workout every day, that's good, but I assume most of us do not have the time for a regular work out in a gym. Thus, the alternative is to bring the work out to home. However, if you are to work out at home or gym, one concept remains constant: you must exercise regularly. Consistency is very important for an exercise routine to have any effect on our body. Getting started is the easy part, but it is maintaining a regular exercise routine that is difficult, an area where often people give up.
Most people get on to a great, enthusiastic start: they buy all different kinds of equipment and their first day at the gym is almost celebrated. Then, as the days go on, they find it increasingly difficult to get to the gym, simply because of time issues or their determination has worn down, and so their routine slows down and finally comes to a complete stop. The most chosen time for work outs is the evenings, and if you can stick to work out in the evenings then it is absolutely fine, but most of us find ourselves exhausted in the evenings, especially after a long day of work. Being physically and mentally drained, our bodies will be just too tired to want to work out.
The result is that after the first few days of working out, the interest diminishes, and often most people plan things for the evening, so many unexpected events will pop up during the evening. Thus, I advise you to set a time in the morning to exercise.
There are 2 main advantages to exercising in the morning. The first advantage is that in the morning our bodies are rested and full of energy. Please keep in mind that there is a popular misconception that exercise use up all of your energy but rather it does the opposite. Exercise pumps more blood through body and warms it up, so in fact, after exercise we feel more energetic and active.
The second advantage is that in the morning we have the time to exercise and still have the rest of the day for other activities.
What about those of us who have never worked out before? In these cases, I would suggest perhaps looking for the assistance of an instructor, for which will probably need to go to a gym or YMCA. However, I have two simple recommendations that anybody can do without any help: walking and swimming. Anybody can walk and swim (as long as you know how to). For these two activities you do not need much equipment and experts say that these two exercises have no side effects and are excellent sources of stress relief.
A good routine is to wake up half an hour earlier in the mornings, put on your walking shoes and take a walk. In fact, there won't be as much pollution in the morning too.
