What is OCD?
OCD, as it is commonly known, or obsessive compulsive disorder is a disorder combining two or more other disorders resulting to a very complex condition of an individual that would tangibly hamper him or her in his daily activities, making the individual very unproductive at the end of the day. The two main disorders of OCD are obsessions and compulsions which if goes together afflicting a poor person, the person can be viably identified as an OCD patient.
Obsessions is a kind thought that intrusively comes in your mind without precedence or anything that would basically invoke you to think of that kind of thought. There are different kinds of obsessions. There are obsessions that are violent and ominous; some are perverted and sexual in nature. Once they're there, it becomes really difficult to get rid of them. No matter how much you try not to think of it, they still come back and what's worse is that the more you consciously divert your mind from these thoughts, the more they beset you, plaguing your mind with more unwanted thoughts.
Compulsions are more likely the result of an apparent obsession. As your obsessions become more rampant and uncontrollable, the urge to comply with your obsessions in order to satiate or reprieve it would become stronger and stronger. As a result you will be executing actions, doing things that are sometimes already becoming unnecessary even nuisance to the people around you. Compulsions are manifested into ritualistic, repetitive behaviours that you an OCD patient would execute every time.
