Understanding Panic Attacks That Go Off When You Sleep
Our minds like our hearts never stop working
Our minds like our hearts never stop working. Even if we are sleeping, the heart still keeps on beating and the mind still keeps on giving off thoughts. This is why even if we sleep; there is still a good chance that panic attacks can happen. You may or may not be aware of this, you may even believe this or not but many times, panic attacks can happen while you sleep.
To recall a little about panic attacks, books define it as a sudden "period of intense fear and discomfort." Take note that this is not just any ordinary everyday fear that we feel. It is not just the like of fear that you will not catch the bus on time or coffee might spill on your new shirt. Panic attack is one of the many anxiety disorders that are feared so much by people. Who knows, this might even be the "most" feared basing from its definition.
There are many symptoms of panic attacks. They include the "racing heart", trembling, dizziness, nausea, sweating, difficulty in breathing etc. Often, the symptoms associated with panic attack may also be associated with other disease hence it is important to eliminate which is which to keep yourself risk free from a more dangerous or lethal disease.
Back to the main topic of sleep panic attack, we cannot blame a person if he finds it hard to believe that such a disorder can happen even in sleep. Again, this is real. It is even always depicted in movies. For sure you have seen a scene that goes when the actor wakes up straight from his bed, full of sweat, trembling, and gasping for air. This gives us a lot of panic attack symptom in one scene. And do not think that it is fiction because they got it from what is real.
How many panic attacks happen while you sleep is not yet known. But even if it is not yet known, one thing is clear; they happen as we sleep. Now, you may ask why it still happens when we sleep, when there seems to be no reason that would trigger the panic attack.
The reasons for sleep panic attacks are different. For example, during the day, there were some pent up emotions. You had no outlet for this and so it will occur when you sleep. You may have experienced some stressful happening in the morning then it will backfire in the evening. Sometimes, drastic changes in life can also trigger. These changes could be a new job or a new culture, or perhaps a death in the family.
At times, sleep panic attack may not really happen the way it does in movies but instead you will feel very tired upon waking up. This is really bad since it is like a double edge sword; you did not get enough rest which will give you stress which may trigger another attack and you might be afraid of sleeping again.
Sleep panic attacks happen. This is the reality. But even if it does, make it a point that this must not occur to you, or else complication would happen next.
