Pool liners are usually installed together with the pool. The liner is clipped to the inner sides of the pool with a series of fittings along the edges of the pool. Or it may be fastened with water-proof adhesives. But bear in mind that pool liners wont last forever or as long as your swimming pool. While they can last for years based on the climate and the kind of care you give to your pool, pool liners have to be changed sooner or later. Changing the liner of an above-ground pool is a snap unlike an in-ground pool that needs professional help.

Examples of above-ground pool liners are overlap liners. These are affordable and make use of plastic strips to hold the liner in place. The strips come in two forms; a flat ribbon style and tube shaped. These strips must be replaced when signs of cracks or breaks appear.

While they are made of different materials, pool liners made from vinyl are advised because they can quickly adapt to the interior dimensions of the pool. This is vital if the pool has ledges or steps. Vinyl liners can also be moved easily. This makes it a breeze to smooth out wrinkles or air bubbles that form.

To clean a pool liner, simply drain the pool and scrub its surface with the required cleansers. With the proper care, a pool liner can be used for many years before it has to be replaced. To extend the life of a pool liner, cover small rips or tears that form in the lining with a repair kit. If you don't fix them, the damage may increase and destroy your investment.
