I lead a very exciting and happy-go-lucky life. There was never a dull moment in my life since I came from a big happy family and have a wide circle of friends. If ever I needed someone, I could always count on anyone from my family or friends. I never felt alone and sad. Sure, I experienced problems along the way, but I know that I can handle them since I have far too many people to back me up.

Everything is going well. Having a big family and many friends really has its perks, only it has one little downside. It's quite expensive to keep them. But there is one important lesson that I learned this year about keeping a good company, it is not mainly about money and the material things. More often, they would even value more the intangible things that you could give to them, the one that money could never ever buy.

Last year was tough for me. I lost my job and haven't found a new one since then. I am quite bothered that I could miss a lot of things because of these. Since it has already been a long time since I had a job, I have plenty of idle time to think things through. It was then when I realized the possibility of losing some of my friends if I would not be able to buy a gift for them on their birthday. I realized that maybe they would think that I don't care about them anymore since I forgot about their birthday.

It was through that realization that I tried my best to give them something despite the fact that I am jobless. I found refuge in card making. Every time a close friend or family of mine would be celebrating his or her birthday, I would often look for some possible materials for a personalized card in our house and make a card for him or her. Every card that I made last year is unique and every design comes from the bottom of my heart. Although I am not an artist, I always make it a point that my designs are not that awful. I tried to make each simple but with a distinct impact, especially to the recipient of the card.

Equally, I also paid special attention to the content of the card. For me the message is the soul of the card. If the message is not that special or it is written just for the sake of having a message in it, it would be a big failure. The card lost its worth if we would not use it to express our feelings or emotions to this special person in our lives.

All of my friends and family loved my cards. They would keep it and would read the message over and over again. If they would have a chance of seeing me again, they would often thank me over and over again. It was really heartwarming. I felt special and loved because of those personalized card. It was then when I realized that money cannot buy friends, but priceless cards could.
