. For instance, United States immigration refers to the movement of non-Americans to the USA for the purpose of 'settling down'.

In order to get citizenship in the USA, the most convenient route is via the process of naturalization. The basic requirement for being eligible for this process is to have stayed in the USA for at least five years, although some special cases might require the applicant to have knowledge of American history and government, as well as the English language. There are many categories under which one can legally immigrate to the USA. Let's take a look at some of the major ones.

Immediate relative: This is one category that allows the largest number of United States immigration every year. It basically allows an American citizen to sponsor minors, parents and spouse in America as its citizens.

Employment-based: Individuals who have the required job skills that are currently in demand could be given citizenship based on the economic demands of the country. But in this category as well, there is a limited number of immigrants that can be accommodated.
