Unlocking The Secrets Of Feng Shui
Feng shui, the ancient Chinese philosophy that governs the way the Chinese arranged their homes
, workplaces, graves and other structures. It is optimized for the most ideal flow of Chi, the positive energy. All the various schools of feng shui all work towards the same goal which is increasing the flow of chi. The simple yet effective practices have won the heart of millions all over the world and inspired them to try unlocking the secrets of feng shui.
Feng shui stands for wind and water, though it is hardly used in that sense today. While practicing feng shui, it is important to understand the play of energy within the space. It is essential that you learn to balance the yin and the yang, the positive and negative. When you feng shui your house or workspace, you have to keep in mind that you have to chase away the negative energy and create spaces where the chi can flow without hindrance.
Several schools of feng shui take the help of a compass to predict the correct alignment. It is amazing that the ancient people had the knowledge of magnetic fields and their effects on our lives. Sometimes, the most ideal orientation of a building or a room may not be possible to implement. However, a few simple tips can be adhered to when you feng shui your home.
What ever space you are working with, allow it to be well- ventilated. A free flow of oxygen is necessary to get good energy Chi into the house. Keep the space well-lit with ample natural light. Do up the walls in pleasing light shades unless you want to evoke strong reactions every time you enter it.
The living room couch should be facing the main door or at least, the main door should be visible from the couch. Make sure you do not sit with your back against the door. If there are any dark corners in the room, use a combination of mirrors and lighting to brighten it up.
Use dim lighting in the bedroom. If you need to read or work in the bedroom and need stronger light, make sure you have a dimmer switch. This room must calm you. It must excite you, according to the situation. Add a strong, sturdy headboard to your bed. If will offer you mental stability and protection. Keep any kind of reflecting material or mirrors away from your headboard. Also, do not face a mirror when asleep.
Electronic gadgets harbor some negative energy and must be avoided in the bedroom. If you must have them, keep them away from your sleeping area. The bigger machines like treadmills and even televisions must be avoided at all costs. If you have storage space below the bed, try not to use it. The clutter there will stagnate the chi. Avoid putting the bed up against a wall except the head. If you have a sleeping partner, both of you should have space to get off on your side of the bed.
The basic rule is to avoid clutter at all cost. Clutter stagnates chi energy. But, like all other sciences, feng shui should be applied properly and used with a sprinkling of common sense to have any tangible effects.
