The internet has been taking the world by storm and business has changed dramatically in the past ten years with the introduction of Google. You may not be aware that Google controls 86% of the market share when it comes to the search engine traffic, but over the years Google has taken over significant market share. When it comes to internet business marketing if you fail to have a plan, you are planning to fail.

The goal of any internet marketing campaign is to be on the front page of Google for keywords that are relevant to your business and are actually searched. There are a lot of businesses that have tried Google Adwords which is a pay per click program but the smart way to drive traffic to your site is to rank organically. This means that you will show up without having to bid and will be located in the white section of the page vs. the right side or top under "Sponsored Links".

When it comes to ranking organically, it can be a difficult feat to accomplish if you don't have the education to set up a game plan. Google is constantly changing its algorithm and although it has been changed multiple times, there are some points that have remained throughout the years. For this article, I am going to discuss content, keywords, and video marketing.


Content

If your website lacks engaging content then you will have a high bounce rate once you do get someone to visit your website. A bounce rate is defined as someone coming to your site and bouncing out after viewing the first page. When it comes to content, Google is looking for sites that are constantly adding new content which is why news sites and article sites such as this one are given a higher ranking. You must have your keywords that you are looking to rank for on the page that best describes those keywords and your page titles must reflect the keywords you are looking at ranking for as well.

Keywords


Your keywords must reflect what you are trying to rank for on an individual page basis. Do not look at your site as a cumulation of pages but rather view each page as a seperate entity. Google ranks the site page, not the site itself by giving each page a Page Rank value. So, when it comes to keywords be sure that the content on each page accurately describes what the page is about. In order to dominate local Google, you must spread your keywords out to the less competitive ones so you can fish from a different watering hole and capture the traffic that your competitors are not going after. Do not put the keyword in over and over as Google caught on to that about 5 years ago and it is considered spam.

Video Marketing

Now that Google owns YouTube, video marketing is exploding onto the scene and in order for your company to dominate the search, you must make video an integral part of your online strategy. Keep the video engaging and short. Use high energy, correct lighting and edit the video so it looks professional. People love video and Google does as well. In fact, you may find that just by optimizing a video, you can cruise right to the first page. Bottom line, if you are serious about dominating a local niche then you should seriously consider a company video.
