Using Articles To Promote Your Website
Article Writing is one of the cheapest and easiest ways to get a large volume of FREE traffic to your website IF used correctly.
How is this done?
Basically by optimizing it for search engines by writing good content which is pertinent to the subject of your website.
For example if you are selling health products on your website then any article you write should be about health issues or at least similar.
The main disadvantage of article writing is the time it takes particularly when you first start out.
However as with anything in life the more you practice the quicker you will be able to write and the easier it will become.
Obviously if you can write about something you are an expert on or at least have experience in then this is the best way to start.
Bear in mind that although you may think that your knowledge is rather sparse you probably know quite a bit more than some others.
That means your article could still be of interest to those who know even less about your subject than you do.
The whole point of a good article is to give useful information and advice.
What it should NOT be is a blatant plug for your product!
Eh? Isn't that the whole point of writing an article?
Sure it is but you use the resource box for this purpose.
Another factor to be aware of is that search engines are now very sophisticated.
So DO NOT try to be clever by incorporating key words which are popular in other fields into your article.
This could seriously backfire on you.
What if you do not feel you have sufficient knowledge to be able to write on your chosen subject?
Well there is plenty of information out there on the internet so study and learn. Whatever you do don't just take some information and repeat it verbatim.
You will be accused of plagiarism which could be fatal for YOUR ARTICLE career.
However there is nothing to stop you studying several different reports and then putting an article together incorporating the IDEAS expressed in your own words.
That's called RESEARCH!!
So how long should your article be?
I'm going to "hoisted by my own petard" here because I don't always adhere to my own advice!!
A bit of "don't to what I do, do as I tell you!"
However the generally accepted advice is that articles should be around 400 to 800 words long.
A lot of article directories will not accept an article of less than 400 words in any case.
If your article needs to be much longer than 800 or so words consider breaking down into part 1, part 2 etc.
This normally works quite well.
How frequently should you submit articles?
There is a dispute amongst marketers on this point.
Some say publish daily whilst others say no more than about 2 articles per week.
I tend towards the latter view.
It takes time to write a good article and my opinion is that two per week is about right.
Bear in mind however that it normally takes 50 to 100 published articles before you can realistically expect any MAJOR increase in traffic to your site
This is a LONG TERM strategy.
How do you optimize your article to appeal to search engines?
There are3 major considerations:-
1 Pick one key word you wish to target.
2 Make sure that this keyword is used at least 5 times and use bold italics and underlined at least a couple of times.
Try to avoid using the keyword more than 10 times though as this could be counter productive. (This is not always possible though)
3 Ensure that the keyword is both at the top and bottom of your article and is also included in the link back to your website.
Another aspect you might like to consider is to have your articles written and published for you.
See offers on the internet.
My opinion (for what it's worth!!) is that this will work out very expensive if you want 50 plus articles written.
Also I feel that someone writing many articles must, even with the best will in the world, tend to be a bit repetitive?
How many times can you write in different ways about the same subject?
Maybe I'm just an old cynic.
Finally make sure that you promote your business via the Resource Box
To YOUR success
