If you don't have much money and you still want to have some fun then betting on horse races may be a better idea than you think

. The reason is that there are cheap bets that you can make for a dime or fifty cents that can pay off big. The truth is that most people lose at the horse races. The same is true of casinos and lotteries. You can play nickel slots til' the cows come home and eventually lose all your money one nickel at a time.

You can buy a lottery ticket for a buck and you are almost certain to lose. But at the horse races, you can play a dime super and you have the chance of winning anywhere from a few bucks to a thousand or more. The fifty cent trifecta and exacta are similar bets. A little money can win a lot of money. Before you take your last dollar to the race track, however, remember that betting on horse races is risky.

It should still be looked upon as entertainment and therefore, you should only spend on the races what you would normally spend on entertainment. For instance, if you planned on going out to a movie, let's say a cheap matinee, and spending $20 for the tickets for you and a friend including the popcorn and drinks, you could have gone to the race track instead. Once there you would see a show with plenty of drama and excitement. They also sell popcorn and drinks, but you can bet on the horses and you can't do that at the movies.

When you leave the movies all you take with you is a few thousand calories worth of butter laden popcorn and the gum you stepped on that is now stuck to the bottom of your shoe. When you leave the race track, it's true that you may leave with nothing, but it is also true that some people leave with more money in their pockets than they entered with.

It only costs $2.40 to play a 10 cent superfecta box. It may sound complicated but it isn't. You simply pick four horses or numbers and hope that they will come in first, second, third, and fourth in any order. If they do, you can win a lot more than the $2.40 you invested. A three horse fifty cent trifecta box costs three dollars and yet, a trifecta can pay hundreds of dollars. The point I am making is that it doesn't have to cost a lot of money to go to the races and there's always the chance that you'll win some money, if not, then you've had some entertainment.
