Many people simply use these eye drops randomly. Nevertheless, you need to remember that all the eyes drops must be used in a proper and systematic manner. Eye drops, which are directly induced into the eyes act as a direct and quick medication for any eye infection or eye allergy.

There are many precautionary steps, which a person must follow in order to take proper care while administering eye drop.

A person must take utmost care to see whether the tube and the dropper are clean and hygienic. Even if the tube and the dropper is clean, they must never be allowed to touch the eyelid or the surface of the eye while applying the eye drops.

You must also try not to use the dosage more than what is advised by your doctor. Overdose can often lead to dizziness, vomiting and many other side effects.

You must also not forget to wash your hands thoroughly before applying the eye drops.

If the eye drops are in the form of a suspension, the bottle must be well shaken before applying the eye drops.

If you are alone and applying the eye drops independently, then it will be easier if you stand in front of the mirror.

You must also take proper care to thoroughly wash the area of your eyes with a soft tissue or cotton and see that your eyes are clear from any form of discharge or wetness in the eyes.

The position of your head must be in right direction. You must then pull down your one eyelid and instil the quantity of the drops as advised by your doctor. It is also necessary to wipe off the excess drops even after administering the drop in the eyes.

Again, it is important to take proper care to see that the application of the drop in the second eye does not lead to the dropping of the liquid from the first eye.

You must also try to let the drops remain in your eyes for atleast 10 minutes before you can open up your eyes again.
