This V.44 data compression software implements all the mandatory features of V.44 ITU-T international standard. It uses a new string-matching algorithm for a higher degree of data compression, thus it increases upload and download speeds providing a particularly noticeable improvement over V.42. Depending on the data type, the compression ratios of 6:1 are attainable with V.44.

This V.44 data compression software is a lossless data compression procedure for use with V-series data circuit-terminating equipment (DCEs) as well as packet networks. V.44 applies more millions of instructions per second (MIPS) than V.42bis toward the same application data stream and yields better compression rates in almost any data stream in which V.42bis shows positive results. In addition, this V.44 data compression software supports automatic switching between compressed and transparent modes allowing overall performance gain without loss in throughput for file streams that are not compressible.

This V.44 data compression software belongs to GAO's family of Soft Modems.
