, then you should realize that it is much more challenging than simply walking in the park. Vacations like this will take you through gravel and hills, through creeks and rivers. Getting Fit First

One of the first things you need to do to be prepared is to get fit. You will need to build up strength in your legs and back region. Do some jogging to get your endurance up. Then, you can go on a hike that is a few hours longer than you started. Be sure that you are practicing by carrying a backpack that is loaded so that you can get used to carry weight while you hike. Practice for several days before your hike. If you are experienced, you may not need to do this.

Just as anyone that is trying something new needs to do, you need to carry out some tests before you begin your hiking adventure. Carry a pack several days before your hike so that you can feel how well it fits. Test various options in how you load the backpack, too. You do not want anything to bother your body as you walk or cause imbalance in your step. While you are doing this, you are working on building up the muscles and joints that you will need for the hiking excursion.

Once you have it filled, talk long walks throughout your local area. Part of your practice should be on grass that has not been cut and even over children's toys and rocks. This gives you the ability to enjoy all types of surfaces and prepares you for what's really out there whether you're going to the Rockies or even on Tuscany tours.

It is helpful to try to load your backpack several different ways and to walk at different rhythms so that you find what works best for your fitness level and the style of your body. You should take someone with you that is experienced, to help you through any problems that arise.

If you are taking a long hike, it is important to avoid taking the treacherous road every time. You should not cross every stream or climb any hill that you find. This takes a lot of energy to accomplish and can easily wear you down. You want to emulate the marathon runner that works at a steady pace rather than pushing hard right from the start. With the practice that you have done, your body has the experience and fitness it needs to help you to accomplish these goals.

Because you have worked up your stamina and have made careful preparations, you will enjoy a hike that offers less risk of injury or fatigue.
