Variants Of Organic Coffee Beans
These organic coffee beans make up the fresh hype in the coffee industry today
.
These beans come from coffee cherry seeds. After the red ripe cherries are harvested, they are then placed under the sunlight to get dried. Next, the outer part of the dried red cherry is removed, which leaves only the bean itself. The quality beans are then sorted based on its size and volume. The heavier beans are the good quality ones. These beans are what we call the green beans since they are yet unroasted. These beans could go through light, medium, dark or espresso roasting--making up the favorite flavor variants of coffee lovers.
When roasting organic beans, the green beans are placed inside a big drum where it is then going to be heated for some minutes. The kinds of roasting differ in the span of time the beans will be heated. Below are the different roasting processes:
Light roasting - In this kind of roasting, the beans are to be heated for about five to seven minutes only. The coffee beans will then cackle, and in its first pop is when the light roasting process ends. By that time, the green coffee beans have become bigger than its original size while the color has changed into yellow or a shade of light brown. In this state, the coffee beans still have a pinch of acidic or sour flavor, yet its original flavor is already dominant, which can be established by actually tasting it.
Medium roasting - The roasting process continues for nine to eleven minutes. When the roasting stops, the green coffee beans should have shrunk in size and became darker in color. The sweet flavor of beans should also have started to come out, and so its taste will be close to milk chocolate flavor. The coffee beans become a bit smoky in taste, while its original flavor can still be tasted.
Dark roasting - In producing dark roasted coffee, twelve to thirteen minutes of heating is all it takes. By this point, all the sugars in the coffee have developed giving it a hard caramel flavor. It tastes very smoky with a bit of spiciness.
Espresso roasting - After fourteen minutes of heating, all the sugars in the beans are burned and caramelized. This results into a strong and smoky flavor to coffee beans that are perfect for espresso coffee.
There are sure a lot of variants of roasting to choose from. Even so, whatever kind of roasting it may undergo, it will surely have a better taste if compared to coffee beans that are grown with chemicals and other synthetic substances.
Since these beans are naturally grown, it not only offers a great taste, but at the same time, a healthier diet to coffee drinkers. However, its benefits do not stop with the drinkers. Since the growers use natural methods in producing these organic coffee beans, they also cause less harm to the environment and the growers get a better premium for not using pestisides.
