Various Stages Of Dealing With A Breakup
Whether you are in a relationship or not, it is important for you to know the common
ways of dealing with a breakup so that you can put your life back on track.
There are general guidelines that will help you out, as you will be able to customize them to fit your individual circumstance. Here are the common ways of dealing with a break up.
Denial
When your partner lets you know that your relationship is over, your initial reaction will be to deny that that is really true. This can't be happening to you, you may try to convince yourself.
The denial stage has its benefits. Without it, your mind may find it unbearable to deal with your painful experience. It allows the sad reality to sink in slowly as you begin to come to terms with it.
The problem comes when you keep on denying the reality for too long. However, when you get over the denial stage fairly fast, you will be ready to face the other stages more positively.
Anger
As you get over the denial stage and the painful truth sets in, you are likely to feel very angry. This is a normal process of dealing with a break up, and it should not surprise you. In fact, it is impossible not to get angry if your heart was really in your broken relationship.
It is the way in which you tackle your great sense of anger that is really important. Do you burst into a tirade of bitter words that will leave dogs barking! Do you respond with an equally angry letter? Do you collect everything that reminds you of your ex and set them on fire? Beware, as this may include your house.
If you do not put reins on your anger, this stage of dealing with a break up can turn quite destructive - and you will regret your actions and words later.
It is important to have the support of people who care about you during this difficult time. You should therefore avoid keeping to yourself.
Making inappropriate deals
When dealing with a break up, you may resort to making some bargains or begging. Unfortunately, this common trend creates more harm than good, as you may sacrifice very important things.
You should instead seek for an amicable reconciliation that will not leave you limp in one way or another.
Depression
One of the stages that you should be aware of when you deal with relationship breakup is the depression stage. Again the problem comes when you get stuck in this stage, which can result in serious complications.
Acceptance
When you are interested in dealing with a breakup, this is the stage you should strive to reach even if you skip some of those mentioned above. Without coming to terms with your break up, you won't be able to move on with your life.
