Vehicle Fuel Saving Tips
In our current economy it is more important than ever before to be able to drive without having to use a lot of fuel
. Filling up at the pumps is a lot more expensive than it once was, and the prices are just going higher. People are looking more into fuel efficiency and hybrid vehicles then ever before, and even some of the speeders are looking at their speedometers and are driving at a speed that uses less gas.
Things are not going to get better anytime soon, so it is a wise decision to start looking into these different things and figure out how you can use less gas to save more money. There are many tips and tricks that you can use, and some of them are a lot easier than others. Through the use of these tricks you can save hundreds of dollars each year on gasoline, and the savings will increase as prices increase, which is going to happen.
Hybrid Vehicles
One of the major concerns with hybrid vehicles is the amount of years it actually takes for the extra price of buying a hybrid to make up for the increase in gas cost. However, this amount of time is decreasing rapidly each year. If gas prices keep going up like they are now and are expected to, this time duration will be down to only a couple of years. Hybrid vehicles use a lot less gas than a normal vehicle, which of course is their purpose. This cuts down on spending as well as time since you are having to drive to the gas station each time you fill up on gas, and a lot of people end up buying junk while they are there anyways! Hybrid vehicles have another benefit besides just saving you money, they use less fossil fuels so they help the environment as well. They also preserve our natural resources, which is becoming evermore important.
Tire Pressure
By keeping your tires filled at all times and in their best condition, you can save up to 3.3 percent of gas. This may not seem like a lot at first, but it adds up quickly. This amount can increase or decrease depending on the type of vehicle a person drives as well as the tire size on the vehicle. Either way, it is another great way to save on gas.
Look at the Speedometer
There are many ways that your speed can affect the amount of gas you use. For example, if you are approaching a hill you should speed up before you get to the hill, as it builds momentum and allows you to cruise up the hill much easier without using a lot of gas. Another helpful tip is driving up a gear if you tend to drive fast in a lower gear. Just because you are driving in a lower gear doesn't mean that you can save on gas. Although the answer may surprise you, by driving faster in a lower gear rather then shifting up, in the long run, you are using about 45 percent more gas than is needed.
