Victoria Peak - Pinnacle Of Vistas

Hong Kong is usually flooded with throngs of visitors who usually visit every summit of Victoria Peak

. However, just below the apex are parks and residential areas, which attract tourists and the elite of Hong Kong. These parts of the hill are commonly referred to as the Peak or Mount Austin.

Adding beauty to the skyline of the Western quarter of Hong Kong, the mount serves many important purposes. Apart from being home to several species of birds and housing the radio telecommunication systems for the city the hill offers spectacular views of the town and the Victoria harbour and a chance to shop.

Since the beginning of the 19th century the mountain has received more than its fair share of attention from governors, lords and noblemen from even the West. Sir Richard MacDonnell, the sixth governor of Hong Kong built his summer villa on the hill and this triggered a huge interest among others. Today the villa stands bordered by Victoria Park Garden a sprawling park used for leisure.

Probably the reason the mountain attracts so many tourists annually is because it is an ideal location to catch a glimpse of the beauties of nature while conveniently being in the midst of shopping centres. The Peak Tower and Peak Galleria are the two shopping paradises atop the hill and they are never short of visitors, thanks to the many sights, experiences and business opportunities nor are the hotels in Hong Kong. The views of the harbour and the tiny islands that surround Hong Kong from the zenith of Victoria Peak are absolutely breathtaking, as are the parks where visitors stroll lazily absorbing the refreshing winds and the views.

Both at the top and at the foot of the hill there is plenty to do and see. Tourists find the night life, entertainment and hospitality of Hong Kong highly appealing.
