5 Video Marketing Tips For Camera Shy Video Marketers

Video marketing is one of the hottest ways to get your message and your brand out to the masses but for a lot of marketers, it scares them to death. Being afraid to be in front of the camera is the biggest reason for many marketers to shy away from the this amazing technique.

If you're camera shy but still want o take advantage of video marketing here are a few tips.

1 Screen capture video. By using your computer as the face behind the lens you avoid looking into the camera yourself. This technique is perfect if you are doing a how to or instructional video. You can even put together a power point with slides to do the "talking for you".

2. Interview style. Record your video with you looking off camera at your interviewer. You can even enroll a friend, family member or business partner to help you. They can be off camera (or on) and ask you questions. Think Barbara Walters and her up close and personal 20/20 interviews. This technique allows you to still be on the screen but takes some of the fear away because you aren't directly speaking into it. You're just having a chat with someone else while the video camera is rolling.

3. Full disclosure. Nothing makes people like you more than when you are honest and a bit vulnerable. Tell the camera straight out- "Look, I am not comfortable doing this and you won't see me back here often but this message was so important that I had to get in front of you and get it out." When you let people know that you are new to this or uncomfortable they will empithize with you. This makes you a real person and someone they can relate to.

4. Use a whiteboard. If you are nervous about looking straight at the camera don't! Use a whiteboard or chalkboard and illustrate your message. Back the camera up so that you don't feel uncomfortable and concentrate on getting your message across using images and words.

5. Use slideshows. This is like podcasting with images. It is perfect for anyone that wants to have professional looking video without them being in it. You can record audio and load it in with your choice of pictures and the site does the rest. You can also just use text and images with background music. And if you don't like it, press a button and the site will make you a new one.
