Barcelona is not a large city and can easily be seen by foot, and the city actually has various walking tours to showing the best sights. The Casa Batll is one of the most important constructions designed and built by Antoni Gaudi, you'll find it situated on the Passeig de Gracia. On the outside of the building are balconies formed in such a way they resemble skulls and bones, perhaps a casualty of the dragon sitting high on the roof before it was struck by the sword of St. George. When you see the interior, the attention Gaudi spent to detail on his designs is inspiring and admirable.

Located at the bottom of the tallest buildings in Spain, The Hotel Arts and the Mapfre Tower at Port Olympica, is the enormous creation by contemporary architect Frank O. Gehry, The Golden Fish, acting as a signpost to the towering landmarks.

Make the most of the city views as it's ultra modern and romantic. Although Barcelona has many fascinating activities to do by day, for many the main attraction is the nighttime, and on any night of the week there's a party suited to all tastes. To entertain are a variety of nightclubs, shows and dining spots filled with different party areas that appeal to all kinds of people. Many don't get busy until after 1am and stay open until past 5 in the morning, watch out for the PR crews handing out flyers on the streets if you like to party till morning. Have a snooze in the afternoon in your city centre apartment before getting up and doing it all over again. If you prefer to experience local culture then there's always the local hang outs full of old Spanish people playing cards and no loud music or crowded bars to contend with.

A short break doesn't have to be spent in a city of course, there are plenty of other choices open to you. Take advantage of your holiday to de-stress, rejuvenate and be entertained. How about a few days chilling at the beach or in the countryside?
