Lobnoye Mesto
This is the site where erstwhile rulers or the Tsars used to make historical announcements. The location is right opposite to the St. Basil Cathedral. Some executions or public hanging were also carried out here. It is thrilling to see this place. A sense of mystique surrounds the place, and if one concentrates enough, an eerie feeling can be experienced. Today, the place is no longer the same as many new buildings have come up but still it is an experience none would forget for as long time. Close to this venue, there is a shopping area. Visitors love to shop at the gigantic GUM Department Store. This store is considered to be one of the most popular shopping areas in the city. The arcade is very close to the Red Square. The face of the city has changed drastically, and the vestiges of communism are nowhere to be seen. Countless gleaming shops on all four sides with a center in between displays a variety of products both, locally manufactured as well as branded. If visitors get tired with relentless sightseeing and shopping, they can relax in cafes located here.
