Cherrapunjee
Cherrapunjee is a beautiful town that is situated in the East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya. It is known for having the highest rains. The scenic beauty of lovely gardens and parks makes the place a perfect tourist destination. It is located at a height of 4823 feet. The amazing waterfalls and limestones caves also add charm to this place.
Shillong
Shillong is the capital of Meghalaya. This beautiful hill station is blessed with spectacular attractions. It enjoys a salubrious climate throughout the year. Mawsynram is located at a distance of 56 km from Shillong. It is a beautiful village which receives an annual rainfall of 11.872 m. The place is known for the huge formation of stalagmite. It resembles to the shape of a 'Shivalinga'. Symper Rock is also famous here which enthralls many tourists. It is a loaf-shaped rocky dome with a flat roof.
Jakrem
Jakrem is 64 km from Shillong. The land of Jakrem boasts of hot-springs of sulphur water which attract people from far and wide. It is believed that this water has curative medicinal properties. The place has now been developed as a potential health resort. Many people come here to take bath in these hot-springs and gain good health. Jakrem is also a favourite picnic spot during winter.
Nartiang
It is a beautiful tourist spot, located in the Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya. It has several monoliths, located near the local market Mawlong. The place also boasts of an ancient temple known as Nartiang Durga Temple. It is a Shakti Peeth, built in the 16th century. Another attraction is Shiva temple which houses the old guns related to the Jaintia kings.
Tura
Tura is renowned for its Tura peak. It rises to an altitude of 872 m above sea level. According to the legend, the famous peak is a home to several heavenly deities. The peak offers spectacular views of the rivers like Brahmaputra and Bangladesh.
