Visiting The Millennium Gate
Atlanta, Georgia is often overlooked as a great place to visit on a vacation
. However, this makes it an ideal place to go on vacation.
It is not overrun with tourists, but there are thousands of things to do and see. One of the most recently built attractions is the Millennium Gate.
The Millennium Gate is a historical marker that serves as a museum about and reminder of important historical events throughout the past two millenniums. It was built after those in Atlanta realized that the city has very few National Monuments.
This is a direct result of the Civil War. The city was basically completely destroyed following the Civil War.
Today, the Millennium Gate is a 73 foot tall arch that is located on an axis on 17th Street on the Atlantic Station development. This humongous arch is awe inspiring as it looms over your car as you approach it.
New York has a similar arch named the Washington Arch. Likewise, London features the Wellington Arch, Paris the Carrousel Arch, and Munich the Siegestor Arch.
The Millennium Gate is located right next to a beautiful park that is located on the edge of a 3 acre lake. The last 2000 years are represented by this magnificent arch.
It is rightly called the magnificent arch as it is the largest memorial monument to be built since the Jefferson Memorial. Below the arch there is a gallery featuring the works of many contemporary classical sculptors.
This gallery is free and open to the public for viewing. This in itself represents history as well.
It was a Renaissance tradition to fill the public squares with many pieces of beautiful art. This gallery follows along with this tradition.
The sculptures found in this gallery change periodically in order for people to continually come back and enjoy new works of art. Additionally, there is a dining room and a terrace area that are located in the arch.
These areas can be reserved for special events. You can also enjoy a fantastic view from the roof of the arch of the city and nearby lake.
The intent of the Millennium Gate is that it is a beautiful work of art that contributes to the beauty of the city as well as represents the important moments in history of the last 2000 years. It is also intended to be a useful education tool for parents and teachers who are trying to help students learn about the importance of history.
In addition, to learning about the history of the last 2000 years, students can also be taught about how the history of the United States fits in with the history of the world. Then, on a smaller scale, how their own city of Atlanta became a very important center of commerce in a very short amount of time.
In addition to the other aspects of the arch, a museum will be incorporated. The museum was planned, and designed by the famous Edwin Schlossberg.
The idea behind the museum is that it will describe the sculptural element behind the monument as well as tell the story of how the United States began and fits into history. The exhibits will emphasize how important the aspects of Truth and Reason were of utmost importance to the Founding Fathers and their ultimate formation of the Constitution and the Republic.
It also discusses the importance and role of religious freedom and the Bill of Rights in comparison to the Magna Carta. The museum also teaches how the United State government was considered to be revolutionary and enlightened during its period of formation.
In addition, the museum can help further the discussion of Atlanta and its importance in the business world of the South. This arch is expected to become a very popular tourist site as the popularity of other similar arches have been monitored.
The World Athletes Monument became an important landmark when over 20,000 people visited it when mourning over the Princess Diana. Likewise the site has been visited by thousands of people celebrating athletes' accomplishments at the time of their death.
Instead of a celebratory place at the time of death, the Millennium Gate hopes to be a celebration of life and the accomplishments throughout history. There certainly is a lot to celebrate in the history of the world.
The success of Atlanta in the business world and the greater success of the rise of the United States are only two points in history. There were many other accomplishments that led up to these successes.
