Voice Activity Detector (vad), Comfort Noise Generator (cng)
Toronto, Canada - GAO Research Inc
Toronto, Canada - GAO Research Inc. (www.GAOResearch.com) is offering its Voice Activity Detector (VAD), Comfort Noise Generator (CNG) software which is intended to reduce the transmission rate during silence periods of speech. The system allows discontinuous transmissions which are based on a Voice Activity Detection (VAD) algorithm and a Comfort Noise Generator (CNG) algorithm that allows the insertion of an artificial noise during silent intervals of speech.
This feature enables it to effectively avoid noise modulation introduced when the transmission is switched off. If the background acoustic noise presented during active periods will abruptly disappear, this very unpleasant noise modulation may even reduce the intelligibility of the speech. The purpose of the VAD is to reliably detect the presence or absence of speech and to convey this information to the CNG algorithm. The purpose of the CNG algorithm is to create a noise that matches the actual background noise with a global transmission cost as low as possible.
This Voice Activity Detector (VAD), Comfort Noise Generator (CNG) belongs to GAO's family of Voice over IP software. Other products in the line include Digital Network Echo Canceller (ITU-T G.168) which is used for reducing the echo by digitally subtracting an estimated echo from the circuit echo, Dual Tone Multi-Frequency (DTMF) Software which has a variety of uses in telephone systems.and Automatic Gain Control (AGC) Software which is designed for speech processing applications.
