. VOIP stands for voice over internet protocol, and this is just a fancy way of saying, "using the internet to make phone calls." Many internet companies who provide cable and internet services have gotten in on VOIP, and customers enjoy the service because when they bundle products like cable, internet and phone together, they find they save a lot of money.

VOIP network marketing works just like any other MLM model. Entrepreneurs sign on to sell the internet and phone services directly to consumers. Once they've built up a customer base, they recruit new entrepreneurs into the system and make a commission of their sales. Those individuals recruit new individuals, and so on down the line.

VOIP network marketing received a nod of endorsement from the Donald Trump Reality show "The Apprentice" in 2009. It was the first time that a network marketing company was ever featured in a prime time television show. The show featured the newest VOIP technology at the time, video calling. It was truly a "Jetsons comes to life" moment and many in the network marketing field were excited by this endorsement. The VOIP network marketing community was especially thrilled, because in recent years the industry has come under fire for being an alleged pyramid scheme.

As with any network marketing opportunity, it is important to research the history of your VOIP company before joining. This can be tricky because a lot of VOIP MLM opportunities are not household names. This is, of course, because the success of these companies depends not on national advertising, but the success of the individual marketers. Unscrupulous companies exist because, as the technology evolves, many people will want to ride the wave. Technology can be a tricky business, so look for a company that has been around for a long time. Those who have evolved with the technology and added and removed services accordingly will be stable in the long run.

You should also research the customer service quality of the VOIP company. If a client continuously drops calls or has their internet or cable shut down on them, they will cancel service. VOIP services are becoming increasingly popular and the industry is getting competitive. Regardless of the compensation plan, if the customers aren't happy, the company can't sustain itself. Quality of call and quality of customer service are of the utmost importance when choosing to join a VIOP network both as a consumer and network marketer.
