Volkswagen Tdi Vehicles Step Up To The Challenge

Volkswagen is working to "Spread the Blue" to share the news about the eco-friendly TDI clean diesel vehicles now available

. As part of the "Think Blue" awareness program, Volkswagen fans can now participate in a new online challenge to share in a little friendly competition showcasing their best gas mileage.

To take part in the competition, Volkswagen owners are encouraged to drive their car for a minimum of 15 miles and then submit a picture of the instrument panel showing their fuel mileage. Current leaders have posted fuel mileage results over 95 mpg.

Volkswagen manufactures five models available with TDI technology including:

-VW Passat TDI

-VW Golf TDI

-VW Jetta TDI

-VW Jetta Sportwagen TDI

-VW Touareg TDI

Thanks to the clean diesel technology, all of these models are able to achieve substantially higher fuel-efficiency than their gas-powered counterparts. The Volkswagen Jetta and Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagen are rated at 42 mpg and the Volkswagen Touareg SUV is rated at 25mpg.

Great News for Eco-Aware California Drivers

Volkswagen TDI vehicles run on ultra-low sulfur diesel which is widely available throughout the United States. Thanks to new standards in the US regarding diesel, the EPA estimates that nitrogen oxide emissions will be reduced by 2.6 million tons each year and soot or particulate matter will be reduced by 110,000 tons a year.

This is good news for Orange County drivers in California where there are over 26 million cars registered and daily commuter traffic congestion raises concerns about air quality.

In addition to the online challenge, Volkswagen also offers online tools for TDI owners including a clean diesel tracker where Orange County drivers can log on to find the nearest clean diesel fuel station at the lowest prices in California. There is also a tool called the TDI Savings Calculator which is available to compare your current vehicle with a VW Jetta TDI. The program allows you to input any other make and model and then generates a chart outlining the savings you have in regards to annual fuel costs, gallons of fuel, and yearly carbon emissions.

So whether you prefer the sporty VW Jetta, the utility-based VW Touareg, or the high performance VW Passat, you can now celebrate great performance and eco-friendly results with other TDI drivers by testing the limits of diesel fuel economy and sharing those results online during the Think Blue Challenge.
