Walking With The Past
If you don't like retro fashion such as hot pants
, then you're in for some bad news. On the other hand, if you want to walk in your father's shoes, literally, spring shoes will leave you with a smile.
To make their butts and legs look more shapely with the return of short shorts, women are off to the shoe stores. Vintage wedges are just what they are looking for. They complement the headscarves or turbans you might be wearing on your head and are easier to walk with than those wobbly heels.
A wedge has a heel that runs from the middle or front of the shoe to the heel, just in case you forgot or were not here the last time wedges got out. The heel is wedge-shaped, hence the name, and can be high or low.
Much easier to walk in than stilettos, wedges add the height and look great with nearly any length of skirt or shorts. At the same time they are still heels, so you won't be running a marathon in them. They can still add shape to thick ankles and make skinny ankles look even skinnier.
Think of wedges for more casual looks, as they're still less dressy than stilettos. They look clunky if you wear them with tighter fitting clothes so avoid pencil skirts, capris or narrow-legged pants.
There are also options for those who want a flat sole to balance out tap pants and boy shorts. Oxfords are available with added twists, such as Oxford ballerina flat, which is essentially a ballerina flat with Oxford style laces. Another shoe you can choose are Fabric Oxfords. If you think what you are wearing is too sexy, Vintage-style skimmers can add innocence to it.
Coming around again will be Clogs. Although not quite what you would expect, a backless clog with a wooden platform and a chunky wooden heel is something you might find going around. Some varieties will be more comfortable than others, and they are wearable with edgy trends like leather and leggings.
Not everything will be retro, however. Platform and gladiator sandals will still be around from recent years, although with some changes. Though, not as heavy as before, gladiators will still have a touch of heaviness. Although always a favorite for warmer weather, a sandal will still be heavier even in their most basic styles.
Expect natural exotic skins to come only a second choice to light and mid-tone neutral shoes with tans, beiges, taupes, and creams. Natural soles, such as cork, will also be a good option for spring's hottest shoes. If you prefer some color, non-neutral shades will feature blues and greens as the top choices.
