Watch Out For SEO Scams!!

SEO means Search Engine Optimization. Which is the use of keywords

that will take your website to the top of Google if used the right

way, with the right keywords.

Watch Out For Scams

Beware! At least 80% of those that claim to be SEO experts are scam

artists. They will charge anywhere from $200 an hour to $12,000 a

month. They make promises that they can take your website to the top

of Google and keep it there. The problem is some will not deliver any

traffic at all, or the wrong type of traffic, even some websites have

been shut down by Google because of keyword spamming.

The last thing you want to do is pay good money to have a perfect

website developed for your business and then have Google shut you

down. And say you have a business that deals in fishing gear, what

good would it do if people looking for snow boards came to your site?

This is one thing you really have to be aware of.

Who Should Do Your SEO?

When you have your website professional done, do not have them do SEO

for you, they are website designers, not SEO specialist. It would be

like having some one that is a professional in dentistry work on your

broken toe. A professional needs to stick to one field in order to be

a master at it. Spending all your hard earned money on anything else

is just a waste of time for your business.

Biggest Scam Of All

There are a lot of SEO firms that want you to pay a lump sum up front

and then a monthly charge. This is one of the biggest scams around,

because once your site is optimized there is nothing else to do,

unless you decide to change your keywords. The only time you would

change your keywords is if you decide to promote a different product

than the one you are already promoting, or capturing a specific

audience within that product.

When you find the exact keyword you want to rank for make sure it is

one that people will be searching for, and that it pertains to your

product. For instance if you are selling, All Beef Hot Dogs, what

good would the keyword, Turkey Dogs be? Also, think of what people

are searching for. What would you put in the Google search bar when

looking for something?

Should I Use A Blog?

The biggest way to get ranked on the top of Google is to use a blog.

Google and the other search engines, like Yahoo and Bing, like fresh

new content. With a blog you are always posting something new on it,

but always make it relevant to what your keyword search term is. And

also all the keywords that are relevant to your product.

For instance, if your selling fishing gear, use all the terms related

to that, like hooks, nets, fishing poles, lures, and so on. This way

Google will see that you have a blog with all the things that go

together and will put your website on the top page. They want to make

sure that when you send some one to your blog or website that everyone

going there is happy and finds exactly what they are looking for.

Google has an awesome keyword search tool to help you in finding good

keywords relevant to your website and they will also give you

suggestions. What ever you do, never stuff your website or blog with

keywords, as Google will look at that as spamming.

Question To Ask For Good SEO Firm

If you do decide to have a SEO professional optimize your website or

blog for you, then ask some questions before just forking over your

money. Make sure you get references from them, and call the other

people that have used them for their input. Ask what you can expect

from the results and how long it will take them for it to start

working. And find out how to communicate with them, make sure you get

a phone number and an email address. Never be left out of what they

are doing!

There is a great book out there if you decide to tackle SEO by

yourself, and it is called SEO for dummies by Peter Kent. Pick up a

copy of that book and a least read it before you decide to spend money

on someone else optimizing for you.

Most of all just be aware that there really are scam artists out

there, no matter how intelligent they may sound!
