However, freelancers are not able to reap the benefits of a professional organization, sometimes even during their entire tenure. Such a scenario exists at a higher degree in professional journalism organizations and labor unions. A few organizations go to the extent of offering memberships only to full-time journalists completely ignoring freelancers or a freelance journalist.

A journalist of yesteryears is completely different from the one today. The image of a journalist prevalent, say 20 years, ago no longer exists.
