Binge eating is far more of a problem for many people that is thought by the masses
. For those who don't suffer from and understand the condition, they cannot see it as a proper medical disorder. For those who do have it, it is often dismissed and ignored as a serious problem and hidden due to embarrassment. In order to stop binge eating however, steps must be taken.
It is not only important to stop for your physical well-being but also for your mental state of mind. Sufferers will encounter the problem due to distress in their lives. For many people who suffer depression, drugs are one way to turn. For others, it is alcohol. And yet for others it is food.
For those who turn to food, it becomes an addiction and often their appearance and health will suffer, which will inevitably lead to even greater feelings and anxiety, guilt and depression.
In order to counter the problem you need to get positive things in your life and become happy or at least happier. Binge eaters feel depressed and turn to food which in turn makes them more depressed. Furthermore, the good they gorge on is predominantly unhealthy and full or fat and calories are bad for your body and cause negative feelings.
For a start, you need to find a diet that works for you, incorporating good foods into your life, but not going cold turkey on other snacks. It is important to try to get some exercise as this releases positive chemicals into your body that acts somewhat as a natural anti-depressant.
The best thing to do is to get support and talk to people. Family and friends will be only too keen to help you if you only admit you have a problem and are not too ashamed. However, if you seek privacy, then support groups are a great way to find those who have gone through the same experiences as yourself.
