Isn't it amazing how one day's troubles just roll over into the next day
. We carry not only today's burdens, but the burdens from several days ago that are piling up on us. Some of this is caused by procrastination, other times it is just the enormity of the troubles in life. Live out your days in "day-tight" packages. Living your days in "day-tight" packages will help you make it through the day. Living your days in "day tight" packages will help you plan for tomorrow. Living your days in "day tight" packages will not always be easy.
What do I mean by living your days in "day tight" packages. Ships are designed so that they have sections which can be sealed off from the other. If you saw the movie "Titanic" you know what I am talking about. When the doors sealed off it kept the water from entering other parts of the ship. Live you days like this. Do everything you can to keep today's problems from spilling over into the next day.
Living like this will help you to make it through your day no matter how tough it is. There is an old saying that there is only one way to eat an elephant, "one bite at a time". When we focus on just the things we can handle in a day a large task doesn't seem so incredibly hard. Break things down into bite sized chunks and you will find your days going by much smoother.
Living like this will be helpful in planning your tomorrow. If your mind is swirling around concerning the events of today you cannot be effective in planning your things to do for tomorrow. Learn to shut off the problems you are going through for long enough to focus on the important things you need to take care of tomorrow. Then you can make a logical plan that will help you to be able to get more done.
Living your days like this will not always be easy, but it is the most effective way to live your life. It isn't always easy to forget the problems of yesterday. In some cases the issues cannot be forgotten or put aside permanently. What you can do though is categorize the problems into things that need to be done now, things that can wait, and things that may never get resolved. When you do this you enable yourself to live in small increments, "day tight" packages!
Currently I am doing a series of workouts called INSANITY. All in one day the average workout length went from 40 min to ninety. The task at hand seemed impossible. As I struggled through I kept telling myself if I just made it halfway through I would quit. When I got to that point I was exhausted, but I figured I could make it to the 20 min mark. I was amazed because when I got there I was able to push forward and make it to the ten minute mark. I had every intention of quitting at ten. When I got there I knew that at the end we stretch for 3 minutes so really I only had 7 minutes to go. I kept going because I didn't want to be the guy who failed with only seven minutes to go. Live like that, in small increments, "day tight" packages.
