We Need Jobs In South Africa For Everyone
Considering Maslow's 'Hierarchy of Needs ' it is obvious that the higher needs explained
by him can't be attained with no employment, be it as an employee or being self-employed. Jobs are as a result at the core of man's presence, let alone wish to achieve and be satisfied as an individual. Devoid of the actualization of the physiologic and safety levels, (Levels 1 & 2) there is to be no love/belonging, confidence and self-actualization levels as only the achievement of the one level will lead to the other.
Individuals are born and after that mostly spend the next 18-20 years of their day-to-day lives in the preparing of a job. It is understood that jobs are necessary to generate income to buy food, housing, clothes, transportation and further education for many. To the majority of men and women the world over, jobs are the Alpha and the Omega of life and self-esteem. Following the World-Wide financial crisis and the continuing European financial crisis, jobs happen to be under unparalleled risk, with record breaking joblessness numbers reported around the globe, but nowhere as bad as South Africa. Official statistics indicate a human population of 50,3 million people with some 26% of them being unemployed. Unofficially the lack of employment rate is estimated to exceed 30%, plus a large proportion of the estimated 5-7 million unofficial immigrants in the country being unemployed. With such track record one can understand the high emotions of those people without jobs. It's not only about not being able to buy and spend on even basic things; it is also about human self-esteem and self worth.
The development of jobs is a high consideration with the South African authorities, but obviously there are no fast solutions to such problem. The quick solutions applied to date haven't really solved the key issue, only the issue to some. Commercially and legislatively taking jobs from the ones that had, and giving them to those that didn't, might appear fair on one side, but is not the solution to the issue. It, contrarily, have a tendency to create problems in a country that is screaming for skills on one side but creates shifted unemployment on the other. Globalization works against the interest of Africa, so also in the case of South Africa with trade limitations, excessive brand or name restriction and high government financial assistance allowed by European and USA economies to their personal interest, while those capital abundant economic climates tend to plunder the recourses of Africa and in the process inhibit internal growth.
Jobs are what make the economic climate go around. Jobs create funding for consumerism and exports, but largely lead to the fulfillment of man, making him a cheerful and comfortable citizen. The happier and more ecstatic citizens South Africa can produce, the more prosperous the country will be and the more rapidly the divide among South Africans will disappear. As a result it is in the interest of all South Africans to pool their recourses and skills to develop the economy and therefore create job opportunities. It is Government's task to make the path easier and not to add obstacles to job distribution and the production of jobs.
