We are JewishDetroit. This is what WE Achieve in Employment and Related Assistance, Together
When we say "We are JewishDetroit," this is what we achieve in Employment and Related Assistance:
JVS provided employment assistance to over 4,000 Jewish clients in FY 2009-10, over 1,000 more people than two years ago. The agency is projecting to provide employment services to at least another 500 Jewish clients in FY 2010-11.
The number of Jewish individuals without medical insurance and enrolled in Project Chessed was 400 in FY 2007-08, 592 in FY 2008-09 and 1,000 in FY 2009-10. JFS anticipates an increase of over 400 clients in FY 2010-11 for Project Chessed. This program has literally saved lives and has successfully leveraged millions of dollars in medical care.
Assuring that Project Chessed patients have access to the prescriptions needed for their medical care is projected to cost close to $200,000 this year.
The JCC provided $125,000 in scholarship support for child day care this past year to 50 families, an 80% increase from two years ago.
JVS is an award-winning metropolitan Detroit nonprofit organization that serves people from all walks of life by providing counseling, training and support services in accordance with Jewish values of equal opportunity, compassion, responsibility and the steadfast belief that the best way to help people is to make it possible for them to help themselves.
