Wear Your Clothes With Pride

Some people wear designer labels as a symbol of wealth and success while others are

simply able to afford these high quality items of clothing that should, in theory, be built to last. Looking good and wearing designer labels is one thing but wearing your clothes with pride is something completely else, is there a way to do both?

Its important to be able to live your life as if somebody is watching, in other words to make sure that whatever you say or do, you can justify and stand by if you need to. This doesnt mean living a boring life and never putting a foot wrong, it means being able to stand by what you say and do as far as possible and this includes justifying what you buy and therefore what you support. Clothing is bought, worn and discarded at an alarming rate these days, with cheap, seasonal clothes dominating the high streets and while this might be great for those looking to keep up with the latest trends without spending a fortune, the cost to suppliers and manufacturers can be huge and also completely invisible if people dont stand up and speak up.

Fashion should make you look and feel good, it should flatter your shape and give you confidence while reflecting your personality but whats all this worth if, when someone asks you if it was made in a sweat shop, you cant definitively say no or when they ask if the farmers who grew the cotton that its made from were paid enough or got a fair cut and you dont know? We should be aware of our lifestyle choices and what effects they may have on other people or we might be contributing to unethical fashion practices without even really knowing it. Ignorance is not an excuse these days, there are plenty of ways to do your research and retailers are becoming more and more transparent in their processes so you can choose where you shop based on their ethics as well as their latest collections.

Being able to truly wear your clothes with pride is a great feeling and its one that you can spread by pointing people in the direction of ethical fashion and high street stores that promote the right practices and support suppliers from the Third World just as they would support suppliers from the western world who would demand good pay and conditions and get it by law.
