1) Use a simple navigation structure
One of the biggest mistakes that I see many webmasters make is that they often will have a cluttered design that is extremely confusing to the user. The more links that you have the less likely that you will make a sale. The reason for this is that if you funnel most of your traffic to the products that convert very well you will find that you end up with more sales.
2) Choose an easy to read colour scheme
Often webmasters tend to choose colour schemes that are not easy to read. What has really worked very well for me is to use a white background. I also use a red headline if I am promoting a product in the internet marketing niche. Alternatively I will use a blue background for other niche markets.
3) Make use of a popup to collect email addresses
If you have a large content website you will find that very few people will actually subscribe to your newsletter. Your primary goal must be to collect email addresses so that you can follow up with prospects. The reason for this is that very few people will actually remember your site and visit it again. Also most people will need to have at least seven email contacts from you before they will purchase something from you.
