Images should be used to help achieve this goal, or else they prove to be useless occupying your web space without giving any benefit.

Limit the use of dynamic images that includes pictures that flash, move, blink, rotate, etc which can act as a disturbance for the visitors. If your website concerns mainly informative content than avoid using dynamic images. Well, if such images are required by your website, should be only used for instance for gaming websites it would go well.

At the beginning select standard layout, thus keep it simple and cute. As complicated layouts would only confuse the customers rather than helping them locate the information they are looking online. Despite the urge to use extra features and flashy layout, use simple ones. Ideal one is a 3 column layout.

For websites the font size and type have to select with care. Not all fonts can work online as in print media. For headlines or titles serif' is good and for remaining content sans-serif' is better. Limit the use of fonts to maximum two styles in your website.

To conclude website design is not very different from print media, but in certain areas it differs in features usages.
