Were The Vita Cross-play And Xbox Smartglass Replicated From The Wii U?
Competitors make any business strive more to do better each time
. In fact, one way to know that your business is doing well is when competing brands start to go head to head against your products. In some industrial sectors, competitors are considered as enemies that need to be pinned down in order for one to win.
Keeping your enemies closer is also a good way to make certain you know what they have up their sleeves. That way, you won't have to keep guessing what to cards to lay on the table. Also, you will have all the advantages that you need in order for your business to survive. In the gaming world, things are rather different.
Once again, Nintendo is going head to head against its biggest industry competitors for the upcoming release of the Wii U GamePad. It seems as if Sony and Microsoft won't give up without a fight in the gaming arena of new product line-ups. The other two gaming brands are absolutely up for the best gaming experience challenge this year.
We all know by now that the original prototype for the upcoming GamePad from the Japanese company was officially unveiled in last year's E3 gaming event. 12 months later, Sony announced that they will be releasing Vita Cross-Play and Microsoft will have Xbox SmartGlass. The thing is that both products were actually patterned after the Japanese GamePad's dual-screen concepts.
It seems like Sony and Microsoft wanted to make sure that they will have all the share of dual-screen fans even before Nintendo releases the Wii U. The funny thing about it is that even the Japanese company's president doesn't seem to be a bit concerned. In fact, he said in a recent interview that he is actually more flattered than disappointed with the news.
It's not something new at all because this isn't the first time that the two competing gaming companies actually tried to copy the Japanese original. Three years after the launch of the first Wii, Sony released PlayStation Move and Microsoft had Xbox Kinect at the same time. Both gaming devices were also motion controllers just like how the Wii worked.
Satoru Iwata doesn't feel the need to file any lawsuit against the competing brands. He firmly believes that imitation is the highest form of flattery. In fact, he doesn't really have to focus on what his competitors are up to. Unlike other companies, he focuses more on developing better products that will give users a brand new gaming experience.
The Japanese firm has also made sure that they will give their gamers more advantages with the new GamePad. There will be new and superior games that are exclusive for the new gaming console. At the same time, the company will make sure that their new gaming hardware will have more edge in terms of third-party support. That way, the Wii U won't end up like the first generation Wii.
The first generation Wii was not much of a success because Sony PS3 and Xbox 360 got much of the attention at that time. Coming up with more distinctive and attractive gaming products each time is the Japanese company's main objective. With all the distinct brands in the gaming industry, one can only do so much with just two hands at a time.
