The West Coast Hip Hop from when the movement started often spoke of these injustices and was very political.

From musical concerts to theatrical productions to movie productions, hip hop is interjecting itself into aspects of our everyday lives.

West Coast Hip Hop may have started off as a cultural movement to show people the injustices in the African-American culture back in the 70s, but it has grown into so much more. Commercial hip-hop tends to sound similar to each other, which is why it tends to stay popular. In the 2000s the hip hop scene has become widely accepted and even seen blended with other music styles as well. The hip hop movement began in the late 70s and into the early 80s and continued growing in popularity into today's current times. The negative publicity didn't hinder hip hop's success, though. Society has come a long way from the racial and cultural injustices that used to happen. With other music and cultures already having a strong following, the idea that something can come along and gain so much momentum is very exciting. The culture has grown into something of a phenomenon with how quickly it has become popular in such a short amount of time. Hip hop isn't JUST music. Hip hop music can't be classified as one type of music, just like most music. Hip hop is also a cultural movement that includes graffiti writing, emceeing and DJing that was started to express social freedom. Each style sounds distinctly different to the others. It's on our radios, viewed on our televisions and seen in our art. Hip hop has taken off all over the world and tends to be a growing all over the world in different societies. It isn't really a genre of sorts like that of Classical, Oldies or Death metal. It isn't JUST a culture. Each style as its own distinct feel to it and greatly relates to what is going on in the communities in that area. To say it is would just be an easy way out of explaining the true meaning of hip hop. It's a part of our everday lives now, whether you like it or not. It isn't even JUST a movement.
