West Virginia Mountaineers - A Well Rounded Program

Every university in the United States is known to have an athletics team that represents them in a variety of different sports

. Even though there are over a dozen state teams to look at, one in particular that is known to stand out from the rest is the West Virginia Mountaineers. The West Virginia Mountaineers athletics team is known to represent West Virginia University. They have a popular nickname that goes by the name of the Mountaineers. The two most successful sports that the Mountaineers athletics team has been able to progress in include both basketball and football.

The Mountaineers are known to have a unique logo that makes it stand out from the other teams. The logo is mainly based around two letters that are "W" and "V". The logo has been designed in such a way that makes the two letters look like one word. The inner part of the logo is yellow in color where as the outline is known to be white.

The basketball team for the Mountaineers is known to be one of the strongest teams in the states. They are currently part of the NCAA Division. The Mountaineers have a men's and women's basketball team. The one that has been more successful is the men's basketball team. The men's basketball team has been known to win over a dozen championships. Their most recent silverware was won in 2010.

The West Virginia Mountaineers basketball team is part of the Big East Conference. The team has had the same coach for three years running that is known by the name of Bob Huggins. All of the home games for the West Virginia Mountaineers basketball team are known to be played at the WVU Coliseum. The stadium has a capacity to hold up to 14,000 spectators.

The Mountaineers have quite a simple home and away uniform for their basketball team. The home uniform is mainly white, top to bottom. The away kit on the other hand is blue all over. There away kit is known to have an outlining of yellow as well.

Football has also been another successful sport for the Mountaineers. They have been around for over a decade now. They football team of the Mountaineers was known to play their first season in 1891. During this time, the team has had over thirty different coaches.

All the home football games for the West Virginia Mountaineers are played at the Mountaineer Stadium. It is said to have a capacity to hold in excess of 60,000 fans.

The current uniforms for the West Virginia Mountaineers football team is a mixture of gold, blue and white. Their home uniform is a blue colored jersey with gold shorts. The away kit on the other hand is a white colors jersey with blue shorts and a gold outline.
