Westwood And Rose Take Lead

Lee Westwood is in the lead for the Race to Dubai

. He is ahead of Irishman Rory McIlroy by two shots after two rounds of the Dubai World championship.

Westwood shot a 69 to finish nine under par and McIlroy matched the same score. The competition is tight as six men go into the weekend on seven under par including Irishman Padraig Harrington.

McIlroy is ahead of the field for the money list as he leads by Pound 115,000 however Westwood would go ahead if he won no matter where the Irishman finished.

The victory would give Westwood a win of Pound 1.6m. This would be made up from a tournament first prize of Pound 744,000 and a money list bonus of Pound 900,000.

His caddie is taking control as he has said that Billy Foster has banned him from looking at the leader board. He said: "I have no interest in anybody else's game. I've never done it before and it will be hard, but I will look on Sunday night. "Looking at the board [he allows himself to do that once off the course] there's probably nobody more experienced than the pair of us, so hopefully that will have a massive effect."He [Foster] has had a few really good bits of advice - and if it turns out well I'll tell you them all on Sunday evening."

McIlroy is still in the running and will win European number one if he takes the title on Sunday. Martin Kaymer and Ross Fisher are also in the running for the money list and are at two under par.

Rose Takes Lead

Justin Rose had a fantastic start to the Disney Classic with three birdies in the first five holes. He has put himself in contention to win his first ever PGA Tour event.

He finished on seven under par 65 and the former European number one looks like he is confidence. "Although the courses aren't the most difficult in the world, it was tricky out there because of the gusting winds," said the Englishman.

Fellow Englishman Greg Owen shot a 66 to finish with Rickie Fowler and Casey Wittenberg, America, on six under par.

Owen had very good round with seven birdies and just one bogey. The weather was certainly different compared weeks ago he said, "It's unusual, very unusual," said Owen. "A couple of weeks ago it was 95 degrees (35C). It's a nice change but hopefully it'll warm up a little bit."

However it is not going as well for some as there are some bug names which are struggling. Australian Matt Jones and former Open winner David Duval are some of the names having a difficult time.

Davis Love III will not be taking part in the next round of the tournament as he has had to pull out due to a neck injury.
