Fasteners can also be used to attach glass to wood in the house's library or even in shower doors in the bathroom. They can even be used in storage areas and closets in the bedroom. In large scale industries, they are often used in aerospace or the military, manufacturing, marine, chemical, automotive, and construction industries. To ensure that multibillion industries produce durable and corrosion-free products, they use fasteners which may be made of chromium, carbon, stainless steel or brass.

Fasteners are also treated to withstand heat, cold and other pressures that are applied when they form part of a machine, equipment, buildings, vehicles and other industrial products. Aside from this, their composition is a mix of different kinds of metals and minerals that are dictated based on their use. Often, these metals include molybdenum, selenium, manganese, sulphur, chromium and nickel which are added to an iron alloy. Their use also dictates the size of the thread of these fasteners. Fasteners with finer threads are used to attach materials that endure greater force, such as those used in industries while fasteners with coarse threads are okay to be used in house projects or fixtures.
