What Do You Do For Fast Constipation Relief?
No one likes to be constipated
No one likes to be constipated. It makes you feel blah. And while there are plenty of ways to avoid getting constipated altogether, the best tried and true methods for getting fast constipation relief are the good ol' enema and suppository.
Yes, you just winced. But you did say you wanted "fast" relief, right?
However, here's a word of caution: while these methods, as well as over-the-counter remedies, will give you fast relief, it's best to avoid them unless you use them very infrequently. What happens when you these methods too often is that your body gets used to this extra stimulation to the point where it simply stops taking care of business by itself. Too many laxatives lead to a "lazy" bowel, which can lead to a lifetime of misery.
One problem is that many people believe they are constipated, but, in truth, they are not. Who said you have to have a BM every day? No one, that's who. People have different schedules-even those who are fairly regular. You know you are constipated when feel lousy, when your bowel movement is difficult and the results are quite firm.
The best constipation relief is to never have the condition again. If you can make it a day or two, there are more pleasant ways for getting rid of your constipation-and keeping it gone.
Here's what to do:
--Drink plenty of water. Your body needs fluids to process waste, so stay hydrated.
--Get moving. Lack of exercise is one of the leading causes of constipation.
--Eat plenty of fiber. The best foods to eat include raw vegetables and fruits. Of course, prunes are the best, but other fruits will also do the trick if you can't stomach prunes.
--Go when you have to. Keeping it in just creates problems. It may not always be convenient, but ignoring nature's call could lead to constipation.
--Give psyllium a try. Psyllium power is packed with fiber, so works quite well. However, too much can actually worsen you condition, so follow label directions.
With constipation relief, natural is almost always better. Remember, what's good for your body, i.e., healthful diet and exercise, is also good for your bowel.
