The surgeon will make incisions inside the nose before altering the bone structure. When the operation is complete, the skin will shrink back naturally to fit the new shape of the nose. Often, the surgeon will remove cartilage or reshape it to achieve the desired effect, particularly if the work is being done on the tip of the nose. When surgery is being undertaken to straighten the nose, this is called septo-rhinoplasty.

Usually, a nose job will take around two hours and they operation will be carried out under general anaesthetic. It is important that the patient has a thorough consultation with their doctor before their surgery so they can establish exactly what needs to happen and how the patient wants their nose to look at the end of the procedure. Once their recover time is over, they will have a brand new nose they are happy to show off.
