What Is Happening When My Delivery Is "stuck In Transit"?
There are actually a wide variety of things that might be going on if your courier company updates your status with the message "stuck in transit"
. A northwest Arkansas courier service might put this notice on your delivery after one of several different events has taken place, and the only way to really tell the difference is to actually get in touch with the courier company directly.
"Stuck in transit" basically just means that your package currently isn't going anywhere. There could be any number of things which have actually caused this to happen. Usually, this status is an indication that the delay is a little more serious than something like a flat tire, or busy traffic. Those short delays aren't usually reflected by a separate status update. You can notice small delays though if you have GPS tracking enabled and see that the package isn't moving forward.
Things that cause a shipment to get labeled with this status tend to be a little more severe in nature. This might include something like a vehicle breakdown, or the vehicle getting in a collision with another. Other things which can cause this include severe weather. Weather, especially snowstorms and blizzards, are one of the major causes of significant shipping delays.
Sometimes there are completely unforeseen events which can also cause a package to no longer be able to move forward. An example of this is when a package gets stopped at customs because the paperwork was not filled out properly. This can cause a huge delay, but if the courier doesn't have a specific interface for adding more detailed information to your online status report, all you may see is "stuck in transit".
Usually it's best to at least wait a little while before bombarding the courier with calls and emails about why your package is stuck in transit. Wait a while and check back first to see if the status changes, because odds are that there are several other deliveries on the same truck and they are all getting the same message. If the problem doesn't resolve though, you may want to contact the courier directly. You need to realize though, that unless they've received an actual report from their driver directly, they may not have much more information than you do. Usually if the stoppage is something very serious, they will contact you directly to provide you with the details.
