What Is So Special About Sri Lanka?
Sri Lanka is now considered a place of harmonious values and a location for people to "Find themselves"
. Plagued by Civil War, holidays to Sri Lanka have been very difficult, and being able to find a safe haven on your holiday even more so. However things have changed recently, civil war has been officially declared over, so now that Sri Lanka is approachable by tourists, maybe we should find out more about it!
This Country is an island in the shape of a tear drop, with the top of the island just south of India. Sri Lanka has also on many occasions been referred to as the Garden of Eden, and some Geographical references in the Bible and in Muslim texts suggest this is where it was thought to be. The surroundings in Sri Lanka are very calm and there is a lush green forest that surrounds the entire island.
Sri Lanka is an exporter of many local products however the one largest and most popular is the Ceylon Tea! This is best grown in this country; all the properties are at their best here, including the heat and humidity. That is the next point that makes Sri Lanka such an amazing place, the temperature in here is something else, the humidity is phenomenal. This place is like a greenhouse, you can quite literally grow anything here, the soil is rich in vitamins and minerals and it has the perfect humidity for tropical plants.
So is there anything other than the surroundings that is special about Sri Lanka? Well actually there is a whole bunch more, especially when it comes to religion diversity. The national religion is actually Buddhism however the country plays host to many different religions. Although Buddhism trumps all others there is also Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism and many more. The Sri Lankan people are very tolerant towards different religions, and other than the civil war that has raged on, the people are quite friendly.
Safaris have recently become quite big in Sri Lanka. Many people believed a safari tour to be restricted to places like Africa, but know you can explore the majority of the jungle in this location. Bird watchers would be in their absolute prime here, this is such an amazing place to come and see birds of all kinds. The Wilpattu National Park is in the Northwest of Sri Lanka and looks after thousands of birds like Storks, Ibis, Pelicans and even Spoonbills. For those that like the larger animals there is the Yala National park in the south west which protects animals ranging from elephants right the way through to peacocks.
Maybe this will convince you to try out a new place for you to visit, not to mention a "Refurbished country" for tourists across the world to visit!
