What is the difference between save and save as?

Who would have ever thought that anyone would be interested in the differnce between "save" and "save as"? This seems like an obvious thing to know aobut, however it seems that there are people out there interested in this subject. I myself never thought twice about the real and clear difference between these two options until someone asked me the question. What is the difference between Save and Save as? The first time that you are saving a file, you will usually pick the save option. And because it's the first time you are saving this file, you will be prompted for a file name and a location on where to save the file. Thereafter, when you save this file again, as it is no longer new file, you will be automatically saving over the top of the first original file. If you do not want to save over the origianal file or alter the file name and location you need to choose the "save as" option. There is a danger in simply pressing the save option because you are saving over the original file. This is how many people lose their work, by failing to think before they take action. Where can I use the Save and Save As option? You can see these options, Save and Save As, available in most programs. They are usually accessed through the drop down menu at the top of most programs.
