What Is The Best Water Purifier Available Today and Why?
With the increasing danger of harmful toxins in the drinking water today
, home filtration is the only way to protect your family's health. Once you know what to look for, you can find the handful of good ones and disregard the rest.
So what is the best water purifier?
The way to find the best one is to find out exactly what they can remove. For example, the convenient pitcher or kitchen jug types are only able to remove some of the chlorine. While this does improve the taste and smell, it does not remove many of the harmful toxins.
These include lead, chlorine, arsenic, pesticides, pharmaceuticals and many more, over two thousand at the last count.
The main types of water purifier systems today are reverse osmosis (RO) and carbon block. Let's take the RO ones first.
These were originally designed for the photographic industry which required lots of demineralized water. This means they remove essential trace minerals like calcium and magnesium which we humans need to stay healthy.
They also are unable to remove the harmful man-made chemicals like pesticides because these toxins are molecularly smaller than water and easily get through their filters.
As you can see, I am not a fan of these expensive filters, especially as they waste over two thirds of the water they use! With a far cheaper and more effective alternative available today, the RO systems have become redundant.
The
best water purifiers today use cutting edge technology and are the only type recommended by the US EPA.
The best active carbon blocks ones are able to remove 99% of all the contaminants in the supply today. They are able to do this by not only manually removing them but they can also chemically bind the molecularly small chemicals to the surface of the filter.
Look for ones using a two-step process, ion exchange and sub micron filtering for the 99% removal rate. These are cheap to maintain, require minimal space and do not waste water.
In fact, you can get a countertop filter for less than $100 to ensure you have at least one pure water faucet in your home.
Now you know the answer to, what is the best water purifier, why not take a closer look at the carbon filters and protect your family's health.
