What Is The Reason Behind Increasing Identity Theft Crimes?

Identity theft is when the criminal steals some ones private asset or property and makes wrong use of it usually for gaining money

. There have always been many 'crimes for gaining money and we have fixed image of criminals in our minds. They are something with knives and shot guns roaming in dark and torching people with knives to take away all their money.

But things have changed on criminal basis also. They are not the same any more and changing times with technologies have given rise to more and more different ideas about crime. Now criminals are just like normal person roaming around the next corner of street and looks like some very sophisticated man who keeps an eye on you without your knowledge and on getting the perfect time, steals your personal data and profits on your money.

Identity theft can occur on any thing related to you which has your personal information stored on it. It can be your credit card, computer, mobile phones, pagers floppy dick and even your face! Sounds little weird but cases have been noted which have criminals stealing someones face by undergoing some plastic surgeries and then making wrong use of his identity. There are cases observed between twins also, as they have god gifted same face identity!

Most of us never notice that our identity has been stolen. There are these identity thefts everywhere. They mat be watching you in some public place where you may be disclosing your credit card number or bank ATM number. They may be hearing your conversation with someone on phone where you may be disclosing you very personal identity such as your computer password or your credit card number and more.

Very simple steps are there where we lack in maintaining our own security. Our trash cans or dust bins are best examples of it. These criminals may be looking out something in your trash cans and can get some secret numbers or calculations made by you. They can get some copy which contains your name, address, phone numbers and even some other details.

Another thing should be taken care are credit card posts. When you get your credit card by post then after taking your pin number immediately dispose off your letter and dispose in such a fashion that if some body takes that, it would be no more of use to him.

Identity theft crimes have been taken good care of by each and every countrys law and order. Many have modified their justice files while others have introduced new laws. Strict actions have been taken against those found guilty of performing such crimes. There are penalties in form of imprisonments and also money penalties. Imprisonments can extend up to 14 years while fine can be up to millions and billions of dollars.

Government works with many agencies and intelligence burros of nations to stop such identity theft crimes. As this crime has now risen up to international level, many international crime investigation organisations are working hard to fight against such crimes.
