What Proper Ear Hygiene Can Do For You?
The ear is one sensory organ that is very essential to the day to day living of each individual
. However, because the size is small and people are not able to see it without using a mirror, it gets neglected often enough. A person's life will change dramatically without being able to hear due to an ear infection or disease. Before this happens, proper and regular ear hygiene is needed.
In taking care of the ears, you first have to be familiar with it. You have to know the parts of the ears, their characteristics and how to clean it, if it can be cleaned. The ear can be divided into three major parts, the outer ear, the middle ear and the inner ear. The outer ear is the easiest to clean because you can still see it if you look in the mirror. The middle and inner ear is a bit tricky for you just have to depend on feeling the ear bud inside your ears.
In cleaning the outer ear, you will need a clean washcloth or a tissue. All you have to do is gently wipe the outer ear to remove the dust and dirt. You can even clean the outer ears every time you take a bath. As for the inner ear parts, you can use cotton buds. There are also trained people who make a living out of ear cleaning. If you do not trust yourself with the cotton buds, then better have your ears cleaned by someone else.
People who listen to loud music all the time and those exposed to loud sounds at work are very prone in having ear problems. To avoid having ear damage or infection, wear ear buds if you have to listen or be exposed to noise. Protection is also important when doing activities that can get very physical. When playing football or riding a motorbike, always wear a helmet to shield the ear and the skull as well.
If you do not take care of your ears, medical complications and infections will soon occur. One of the most common ear infections is otitis. Otitis is a disorder that causes inflammation of the ears. Otitis externa is one class of this disorder that causes pain every time the ear is pulled or even just touched. This is also commonly known as the swimmer's ear.
Otitis Media happens when the ear is clogged or infected with fluid. The last kind class of this common disorder is Otitis Interna. Otitis Interna is also called the Labyrynthitis. A person with this disorder will have a problem with his or her hearing as well as balance. One popular symptom is vertigo. This is caused by improper ear cleaning, disease and too much smoking.
